On a semi desertic landscape we are asked to design the first house to be built on the newest residential development of this city, which is located in the Mexican-American border.
A language of pure forms, with certain contemporary gestures such as a couple of leaning walls, or the exterior treatment of the main staircase, should be integrated to such landscape.
With this purpose, a wall made of regional "sillar" is placed throughout the perimeter, working as an element of transition, gradually softening the spectator's gaze from the beautiful but hostile existing landscape to the plain white stucco volumes, ending on an intense blue sky.
The main façade, facing west, is solved by means of a tower that contains the library and a great beam that articulates the garage and service areas. In the interior, the house is developed on an 'L' scheme, which creates visual openness from all the main interior areas into the garden. Inside such garden, a wooden deck contains a circular pool, which can be converted into a fountain for special occasions, activating a series of water shooting devices.
