The Central State Library, "Fray Servando Teresa de Mier", located in downtown Monterrey, is the most important public library of the state. Its creation in the 1980´s, could be considered a great advance in terms of means of investigation, mainly for students of technical schools. Although there are better and larger libraries in the city, these are exclusively for the students of the different local universities. In a effort to bring up to date the facility in question, the department of Education made an important investment in order to expand it's area in a 50%, as well as incorporate state of the art information technology, as they are the computer halls with free internet access. Another important point to emphasize, is the building's modernization in terms of accessibility, incorporating internal ramps, as well as a small elevator for exclusive use of such. On the other hand, the total renovation of the auditorium, the incorporation of a new coffee area, as well as the new configuration of the areas in all the project, makes this library an important advance for the culture and the education in Nuevo Leon. |
